American Lawyers Changing History
America has a great history of Lawyers from the eighteenth century that went on to do big things and help mold America into what it is today by becoming politicians and several even became Presidents. Some went on to lead successful careers teaching law at major universities. Here are a few lawyers from history who went on to become famous.
- John Adams (October 30, 1735 - July 4 1826) was one of the first in a line of the history of Lawyers that made President. His career as a constitutional lawyer sculpted him into becoming a great political leader, then in 1789 he became America's first Vice President until 1797 when he became the second President of the United States of America. In 1801 he would lose this position to Thomas Jefferson. Some of the major acts he performed while in presidency was the passage of the Alien and Sedition Act and the Judiciary Act.
- Thomas Jefferson (April 13 1743 - July 4 1826) was also a lawyer as well as an inventor, a revolutionary, archeologist, architect and an author among many other things. He was the Vice Ppresident from 1797 to 1801 when he became America's third President and the founder, leader and first President of the Democratic Republican Party until his presidency term ended in 1809. Some of the acts he did while in presidency were the purchase of Louisiana and the creation of the New Orleans Territory. He also ratified the Twelfth Amendment as well as the abolition of the external slave trade.
- Another politician in the history of Lawyers was Alexander Hamilton (January 11 1955 or 1957 - July 11 1804). Hamilton was classed as one of Americas best constitutional lawyers and was also statesman, a soldier and Americas first Secretary of Treasury from 1789 - 1795.
As you can see the history of lawyers in America in the late eighteenth century and early nineteenth century did big things for America that will be remembered forever.
