Fun Holiday Songs

Have you ever wondered where some of the classic fun holiday songs such as “Jingle Bells” or “Frosty the Snowman” originated from? “Jingle Bells” is one of the most popular and widely known holiday songs around the world. It has been translated into hundreds of different languages and is frequently played during the Christmas season. The most widespread belief is that “Jingle Bells” originated in the town of Medford, Massachusetts. It was composed by a musician known as James Lord Pierpont who was born on April 25, 1822 and passed away on August 5, 1893. “Jingle Bells,” which was one of his most famous songs, was published in the year 1857. He composed many other ballads, minstrel songs, and polkas as well, such as “Kitty Crowe” and “The Colored Coquette.” When “Jingle Bells” is mentioned, usually the chorus comes to mind for most people. In fact, many of the lyrics have been changed, in the chorus, from the original version.

Fun holiday songs such as “Jingle Bell Rock” could almost be called play-offs of “Jingle Bells.” The lyrics of “Jingle Bell Rock” are very similar to those of “Jingle Bells.” It was released by Bobby Helms in the year 1957, almost a hundred years after the release of “Jingle Bells.” Plus, there are also references to the song “Rock around the Clock,” which was composed during the 1950’s as well.
Other fun holiday songs like “Frosty the Snowman” are famous classics known all over the globe. “Frosty the Snowman” was written by Steve “Jack” Rollins and Steve Nelson. Like many other classic fun holiday songs such as “Jingle Bells” and “Jingle Bell Rock,” “Frosty the Snowman” was also considered a Christmas song, although it didn’t mention anything about the holiday at all. Many of these fun holiday songs have touched the hearts of both adults and children all over the globe and will continue to be played on the radio during the Christmas season for many years to come.
