Articles and Products of History Christy Turlington Christy Turlington was not breed to be a model. Her beauty was discovered and her talent was natural. Until she was thirteen years old, Christy Turlington was more interested in horses than in modeling. It was after a photographer saw the beautiful thirteen year old riding horse back, that the idea of modeling was planted in Christy’s head.
Christy Turlington was born in Walnut Creek, California on January 2nd 1969. Christy’s mom and dad were protective of their little girl but eventually gave in allowing their daughter to start her modeling career. It didn’t take long for her to make a powerful name for herself as a model. Everyone wanted to use the fresh new face of Christy Turlington. By age 16, Christy Turlington was working with Eileen Ford who had taken her under her wing. After an unsuccessful attempt to take Paris by storm, they returned to the states where Christy began modeling in New York. After appearing in Vogue, Christy Turlington finished her high school education. When it was time for Christy to return to modeling, she did so on the cover of Vogue Italy. This is when her career really started to blossom. She would soon become the spokes model for Calvin Klein’s Perfume, and Maybelline Cosmetics. Christy has accomplished many goals in her life. She received her degree in Philosophy and Literature from the Gallatin School at New York University after attending UCLA. She specialized in Eastern philosophy. Christy Turlington was also named one of People’s 50 most beautiful people. Christy is also a notable humanitarian. All of the proceeds from her calendars go to the American Foundation for El Salvador to help the underprivileged individuals in the country where her mother is from. She also participates on behave of the PETA organization and Fashion Targets Breast Cancer. Further Reading
