Bobby Labonte

One of NASCAR’s greatest drivers is unquestionably Bobby Labonte. Bobby dreamed of racing cars from the tender age of five. He started in the quarter midgets category and then as fast as possible moved on to go carts. At the age of 19 he would work to make money during the day in order to work with his brother on a racing team at night. He started out sweeping the floor for the team and eventually worked his way up. He had the sport in his blood. After being fired from one racing team because of his brother’s decision to leave to work with another team, he started working on his own car.

Finally in 1990 he drove in the Busch series and came in a respectable fourth. The next year Bobby Labonte won the Busch series and went on to win the series championship. In 1992 Bobby narrowly miss winning the Busch series to another driver. In 1994 his career really began to flourish. Bobby took his first cup that year in the Coca-Cola 200. Bobby Labonte’s hard work was rewarded in 2000 when Bobby captured the NASCAR title.

After his 2000 win, things went a bit downhill for Bobby Labonte and his team. He was unable to match the performances made earlier in his career. Bobby decided to make quite a few changes in his car. He switched to a Chevrolet Monte Carlo as his race car and changed the way he made many of his modifications to the car. With new members in his crew, Bobby felt that he had a good chance of coming back up in the standings.

While not being able to repeat his past performance on the track, Bobby Labonte is a talented and intelligent competitor. No matter what it takes, Bobby will keep at it until he is satisfied with the outcome. NASCAR fans know of his commitment and that is why he has such loyal diehard fans.
