This electronic document is a compilation of essays and articles designed for students. It explains some of the resources used in writing history and the software that they can use in preparing their term papers and other projects.

Software for History Research and Writing
By using software programs historians have an easier time getting their work done. They use database programs like FileMaker Pro or Citation for organizing their notes and preparing the footnotes and bibliographies.
History Research Resources
The Internet is an excellent resource for finding information about anything that you desire, including history related material. Some Web sites describe library, museum and archive holdings. Other Web sites provide access to primary sources or public domain works. The Web sites looked at focus mainly on British, Canadian and American history Web sites, however, there are informative Web sites on the Internet that also discuss the history of the etire world.
Using Historical Documents
Reading historical documents is a good way to learn about the past. Historians, examine these documents, to discover what has happened in the past, and how these events influence people and society in the present. Some of the documents looked at are specifically American, British and Canadian historical documents.
